    Description

Rare original antique engraving from an 1870s French illustrated journal.
It depicts two bassett hounds amd two English Cocker SPaniels.
At the time, there were two varieties of bassett hounds that were later combined to create the modern bassetthound. Shown is the
"twisted leg" basset hound, the type developed by Louis Lane, which later became known as the Basset Normand. THe other variety (not shown) is the straight
legged basset developed by Count Le Couteulx of Canteleu.
The print is very large (folio size), measuring approximately 10.5 x 14.5 inches (26.5 x 36.5 cm). The picture area measures about 7 x 5 inches, with a French caption below. The text on the page could easily be trimmed before framing, or hidden under a window mat.
The page is in excellent condition for its age.
There is text/photos on the back of the print.
See scan for an accurate view of the condition.
This is GENUINE antique/vintage item. It is not a modern reproduction.
